Update of TGIK Games Projects
Normally I provide an update of the games we have been working on over the course of the week. Due to the holidays and being out of town, this past weekend was the first weekend Aidan and I have been able to get together to set the table for the start of the year. We have been throwing around the idea for various projects and this weekend, we took the first steps to making those projects a reality.
YouTube Speed Plays
When I play a game, I like to take my turns as fast as possible. I am not a big table talker and I would rather try a strategy and fail miserably, start over, make adjustments for the next game and try again. This got me thinking about the possibility to recording speed plays of different games. Since we both liked the idea we needed to check off the list on how to make it happen. We need to build ourselves a nice table to use;one that includes a nice felt top and some storage for the games we will be playing. We talked about and decided on what we wanted and now we are going to take the ideas to a friend who has already agreed to help us build it. He was a Wood Shop teacher and has all the tools and know-how to make a nice table happen. With the table on the path to creation, we now need to find at least one more person to join us for the games. One of our buddies, who also play tests all of our games, had his Saturday’s open up. We told him about out idea and he was excited to join in. Starting in February, we are going to start learning the games we want to use for our speed plays and we will start working on the table.
If there are any specific games you have ever thought would make a good speed play, let us know and we will look into playing it.
I started a podcast in November, and unfortunately, I lost my co-host due to time and family reasons. I needed to do some brainstorming about what I was going to do in the absence of a co-host. I now have a plan, and I just needed to get the hardware for recording from Aidan. Since he and I did not see each other over the holidays, I have not been able to the the microphone from him. I now have it and I will start recording episode zero and one in the next week or two.
Designer Google Hangout
We have been gathering designers to join in with a Google Hangout where we (all the designers) talk about what we are working on, what problems and hurdles we are running into with our designs, and brainstorm some ideas with some set parameters. We knew we wanted to start in January, we just did not have a date or time set. I can now say that Jan 24th at 10am pst will be the first TGIK Designer Google Hangout. If you are interested, let me know and I can add you to our list.
We Played a Published Game
We have a bad habit of never playing games when we get together. We are always playing protos. For the first time in a while we played a published games and it was nice just to play a game on a Saturday morning.
Going to be a big year for us at TGIK Games as we are really looking forward to the games and the extra content we have for you in the coming year.
